Mindset
Ever feel like you're riding an emotional rollercoaster? One minute you're up, the next you're down. What if I told you that the secret to smoothing out those ups and downs can lie within your mindset?
What's mindset?
Your mindset is like the lens through which you see the world. It shapes how you interpret experiences, challenges, and even your own abilities. There are two main types: a fixed mindset and a growth mindset.
Fixed Mindset: Believing your qualities are carved in stone. You might think, "I'm just not good at math," or "I'll never be as confident as her."
Growth Mindset: Understanding that your abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. It's knowing that every challenge is a chance to grow and that effort leads to success.
Your mindset matters because it doesn't ‘just’ affect how you handle school. It impacts your friendships, your self-esteem, and even your future dreams. With a growth mindset, you'll see failures not as evidence of unintelligence but as a springboard for growth and for stretching your existing abilities. Interesting right? And you can create this!
Exercise
Having a growth mindset means you believe you can get better at anything if you put in effort and time. It’s about seeing challenges as chances to learn and not being afraid to make mistakes.
Here’s how to improve your growth mindset:

01
Spot the fixed mindset
Notice when you shy away from challenges. That’s your cue to push a little.
02
Celebrate the effort
Give yourself a pat on the back for trying hard, even if things don’t go as planned.
03
Learn from "Oops" moments
Made a mistake? Can happen, what can you learn from it?
04
Welcome the feedback
Listen to advice and use it to get better at things.
05
Reflect
Take time to think about your thoughts and beliefs. What is important to you? And what isn’t? It’s like a mental check-in with yourself.
06
Talk to yourself like a friend
Be nice to yourself, especially when things get tough.
07
Change your words
Swap "I can't do this" with "I can't do this yet." It’s a game-changer.
08
Stay Curious
Keep learning new things. It keeps your brain happy and strong.
